If you were wondering how to make a better site, luring oyur visitors to come back to your site, this little article can teach you how.
First of all, people are looking for sites that don't burn their eyes so bad that they had to hit the back button in search for a more eye-soothing site. Look at the bullets below to see what color combinations you should
not use.
Black background, white font
Black background, red font
Lime green background, light pink font
Black backrgound, lemon yellow font
Those are some color combinations you need to avoid, especially the first two. Be sure your colors aren't too bright. Bright colors are eye-catching, but they can also burn the eyes and make your visitors want to turn away.
Now, you need to make a layout that everyone would like. The two main colors that soothe your eyes are blue and green. Those make your feel comfortable. If you use just mainly warm and hot colors, it will make your visitor feel uncomfortable. I high suggest that you save up to buy Adobe Photoshop or Paintshop Pro. Those are the two main software that will make your site layout look much better.
When you're making your layout, think about other screen resolutions and other browsers. Be sure that your layout fits in all screen resoltions and you don't have that horizontal scrollbar appearing. Also, if you're placing pictures from the internet on your layout, be sure that they are in high quality. If they are not, try to remove all the JPG grains from the image. Low quality images, or even a low quality layout can destroy the charm of the layout, even if it's beautifully constructed.
Next step is to have good content for your site, even if it's just a tutorial site or an anime information site. You must use good grammer anyone can understand and do not use StIcKY CApS for they are highly annoying, or caplocks.
As you code your layout, be sure that your layout is cross browser. There are many people these days using Mozilla Firefox (like me) and Opera instead of IE. Download those browsers if you need to and always check that your layout is compatible with them.
Well enough with the layouts, right? If you're a graphics site, you need to create high-quality graphics. No one wants to use graphics with JPG grains visible or those GIF dots. If you're an information site, you must have good grammer, as said before. And if you're just an art or photography site, be sure that your images are saved to the point that the JPG grains aren't visible. For example, if you were using Adobe Photoshop CS2, you would probably optimize your image to an 80 or 85. For Paintshop Pro, you could optimize it to a 4 or 5.
That's pretty much the pasics of making an appealing site. Also, you should create a catchy title for your site that seems interesting to those visitors. And be sure your layouts and content are unique to others.
Important Be sure you credit as much as you can for all the images used, etc. And do not direct link to other sites, unless they allow you to do so. Direct linking to another site will take up their bandwidth and if so much bandwidth is used up, their site would be suspended until it is regained.
